The Geography of Thailand
Thailand lies at the heart of South-East Asia and shares land borders with Burma (1,800 km), Cambodia (803 km), Laos (1,754 km) and Malaysia (506 km). The peninsula of Thailand has over 3,000 km of coastline split between the Gulf of Thailand to the East and the Andaman Sea to the West.
Thailand’s total land area covers 514,000 sq km and can be broadly divided into four regions; the vast central plain with its agriculture and rice fields, the stunning mountains and forests of the north, the semi-arid farmlands of the north-east plateau and the long coastline and tropical islands of the peninsula.
