Jackies Van

For late night after hours drinking in Chiang Mai Jackie's van is a must. After just two years in its current location Jackie's has become a Chiang Mai institution popular with locals and visitors alike.

Jackie's is located in the car park of Sompet Gold Place on Chaiyaphum Road which runs on the outside of the north side of the moat in the centre ofthe city. Jackie's open at around 9pm but really starts to get going after midnight as revellers from all parts of the city pop by for a late drink.  

The van itself is the centre of operation. It is a battered old VW van which opens out on both sides to form two small bars while the inside it packed with the most incredible of array of spirits from which Pen, the owner and Jackie's wife, mixes a fabulous range of cocktails. Jackie himself meanwhile ensures the customers at the many tables are being attended to by the staff and greets eveyone with an effusive welcome and free popcorn. 

An eclectic music selection plays throughout the night and the van has a friendly party atmosphere. It is an excellent spot for people watching, there is always something going on on the street and it seems as if something memorable hapens every time we visit!
